To enhance the quality of education in Myanmar, UNESCO Myanmar empowers teachers and educators by helping them develop new skills through online courses on Myanmar Teacher Platform (MTP).
As the result of the ongoing crisis, it has become especially crucial for teachers to develop the skills necessary to address the psychosocial needs of their students. By providing educators with the right tools, The UNESCO Social Emotional Learning course aims to aid teachers in Myanmar become better equipped in dealing with mental health and different learning abilities of students and to create a safe and supportive learning environment for them.

The comprehensive course is broken down into smaller 6 modules for ease of digestion from emotional literacy, stress management, responsible decision making, relationship skills, to how teachers as role model can affect the way students deal with their emotions.
The lessons and activities were adapted to the host platform’s limited functions while maintaining interactions. Using bite sized videos, text prompts, and case scenarios to retain focus and create smooth progression without compromising on loading time.
Functional Design
The characters and colour palette were developed to be lighthearted and calm to provide a balance to the heavier, complex topics in the course. While the primary learners were teachers, the design style is catered to both children and teachers, for the practical tools provided in the course to be directly re-applied in the classrooms to help their students learn about emotions.
