How to build a strong multi-disciplinary team

Creating a strong multi-disciplinary team in a creative agency is not just about assembling talented individuals—it’s about shaping an environment where different skills, perspectives, and personalities come together to produce meaningful, consistent results. The real challenge lies not only in building such a team, but in sustaining it through change while keeping people motivated, resilient, and—importantly—enjoying the journey.

Hiring for Mindset, Not Just Skill

It all starts with recruitment. While technical skills and experience are essential, they are only part of the equation. Skills can be taught and refined over time. Attitude, however, is far more difficult to shape. At Bridge, we prioritize individuals who demonstrate a growth mindset - people who are curious, adaptable, and willing to step outside their comfort zones. We look for those who are open to learning, eager to collaborate across disciplines, and unafraid to try something new.

Navigating Constant Change

No team remains static. People join, grow, and sometimes move on. At the same time, the business environment evolves—sometimes gradually, sometimes unpredictably. This is especially true in markets like Myanmar, where change can be rapid and often unexpected. In such an environment, maintaining team cohesion is an ongoing effort.

A multi- disciplinary team must be flexible by design. It should be able to absorb new members easily, retain organizational knowledge from long-standing team members, and continuously adapt as dynamics shift. This requires intentional effort, clear communication, and a shared sense of purpose.

Culture as the Anchor

When change is constant, purpose & culture is what holds a team together. A strong culture is defined by values that are not just stated, but actively lived. These values guide decision-making, shape behavior, and create a sense of belonging across the team. However, culture does not maintain itself. It requires consistent attention and leadership plays a crucial role in ensuring that values remain visible, relevant, and understood by everyone. We try to do this by regularly revisiting them, discussing them openly, and embedding them into everyday interactions with colleagues, clients, partners and suppliers.

Creating a Motivated and Resilient Team

We believe a motivated team is one where individuals understand their role in the bigger picture, feel empowered to contribute ideas, and see opportunities for growth. It’s a place where people feel supported, challenged, and valued. A resilient team, on the other hand, is one that can navigate setbacks, adapt to change, and continue moving forward without losing momentum. Achieving both requires a balance of structure and flexibility: clear direction paired with room for creativity, high expectations balanced with empathy and support.

Don’t Forget the Fun!

In a creative agency (and probably in any other organization), fun is not a distraction—it’s a necessity! An enjoyable workplace fosters stronger relationships, encourages creative thinking, and helps reduce stress during demanding periods. Through small daily moments or larger team initiatives, we aim to create space for playfulness, fun and connection, which ultimately contributes directly to both performance and well-being!
