A Family-Centered Nutrition Toolkit for Mothers and Children
The Smart Start Curriculum has been designed as a primary resource to support development partners operating in Myanmar to improve the health and nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women and children under two. The curriculum focuses on social and behavior change processes addressing behavioral drivers affecting nutrition. It centers around peer-led community based women’s groups, home visits and community mobilization.
Bridge not only designed the curriculum but also developed digital materials such films and animations that accompany the curriculum toolkit to make the technical contents more accessible.

SSC Guide Books
A complete set of manual guide books for the development practitioners, field staff and community volunteers to understand and address the varied behavioral drivers that impact the nutritional status of women and children. Structured into clear and user-friendly sections, the toolkit is designed to be simple, practical, and easy for the target audience to use. It includes Facilitator Guide with four different sessions (Core, Mom, Child, and Family), a Family Booklet and a Management Guide.
To ensure the guide is both user-friendly and cost-effective, visual aids use simple line illustrations with minimal color, making technical information easier to understand while allowing for affordable printing and community distribution.
Animation videos
Bridge develop animation videos based on real-life stories that highlight key messages for every chapters. For every topic featuring a pair of stories—one showing a problem and the other a positive solution. The content encourages discussion and reflection through guided questions and can be used both in training sessions and shared with families to promote positive behaviors at home.
SSC Facilitator videos
The Facilitator’s Guide is designed to equip local women leaders with the facilitation skills necessary to lead SSC sessions for their peer mothers. As a learning aid, Bridge developed a series of films based on the FG lessons, replicating the setting of facilitator training sessions within the community.
The 12 chapters from the Facilitator Guidebook are portrayed through videos featuring actors, led by a facilitator and four neighborhood mothers who are being trained to become facilitators in their communities.
Rather than relying on lectures, these videos emphasize interactivity, showcasing real-life challenges facilitators may face when managing SSC sessions independently. Using the technical information provided in the curriculum, we carefully crafted scripts that are easily digestible for the audience. Additionally, the videos have been translated and dubbed into four ethnic languages to ensure accessibility in different project areas.
